Fall Leadership Conference Recap

On October 4 , the Area 1 Fall Leadership Conference was held at Byron P. Steele High School, led by conference chair Ms. Gale Cabe. Members spent the day immersed in competition, collaborative workshops, and discussions that pushed them to reflect on their own paths. Throughout the conference, the theme “Believe to Become” shaped the tone of the entire event. Every activity invited members to believe in their potential, their skills, and the future they’re building, and to step closer toward the leaders they aim to become.

Believe to Become!

With our partnership with NMDP and give-and-glow kits, we raised over $300, demonstrating how powerful our chapter can be when we believe in a cause and commit to making a difference. As we move into competition season, we hope members carry that same energy forward: believing in their abilities, trusting their preparation, and becoming stronger, more confident versions of themselves with every step.

IMPORTANT DATES!

Start your NMDP Journey

START YOUR NMDP JOURNEY

HOSA’s National Service Project, NMDP is a nonprofit organization focused on giving patients with life-threatening blood cancers and disorders a second chance at life. Through education, donations, and donor registry, NMDP works to connect committed stem cell donors with patients in need of transplants. By supporting NMDP, HOSA members help grow the donor registry, spread awareness about the importance of diversity in stem-cell matches, and empower their communities to save lives—one swab and one story at a time.

Creating an NMDP team page and establishing a chapter presence offers HOSA members a powerful way to make a lasting impact. With a team page, your chapter can easily track how many potential donors you’ve added to the registry, how much money you’ve raised, and highlight your accomplishments. Also, every NMDP activity from hosting swab events to running educational booths can count toward volunteer hours. All of these can earn your chapter points which will allow for NMDP to give back to you. For more information on how your chapter can benefit from NMDP, visit this page.

HOW TO START A CHAPTER PAGE

      registry.
  2. Customize your team page

      more.
    • Your chapter’s join keyword should

  3. Share your team page
    • Share your page with your chapter and
      others to receive donations and
      potential additions to the registry.
  4. Reach out to a representative
    • Find your local NMDP rep. to schedule

Chapter Spotlight – Kingwood High School

“To me, HOSA feels like home. It’s a place where passion meets purpose. Leading sucha a large HOSA chapter has reminded me that the best kind of leadership always comes from the hear.”

~ Brooke Torpy, Co-President, Kingwood HOSA.

ADVOCACY & SERVICE

Leading a chapter of more than 320 members, the Kingwood HOSA officer team has set a powerful example of student-driven leadership and community impact. Their advocacy at WLA helped advance support for CTSO programs statewide, while their targeted food drive delivered a critical aid to dialysis patients in need. At Area 6 FLC, they distinguished themselves once again by leading all chapter in NMDP fundraising, underscoring their commitment to meaningul, patient-centered service. Beyond fundraising and advocacy, the officers have worked to create opportunities for members to explore healthcare careers, build across the district, and actively contribute to the well-being of their community. Their dedication continues to inspire both students and patients alike.

Chapter Spotlight

One of their most impactful efforts was a food drive for dialysis patients affected by delays in SNAP benefits. Their work supplied enough food for three local aclinics, directly supporting patients struggling to meet basic needs.
